Distance Learning

First Grade

While distance learning contributed many challenges to our final months of school, it also afforded many opportunities. My first grade students were able to work with technology in ways that they never had before! They used Flipgrid, Google Suite applications, Zoom, and Google Classroom to further their learning while also sharing their understandings with their classmates! We utilized both synchronous and asynchronous methods to allow for schedule flexibility. Additionally, to increase face time with students, I have been using a combination of whole class, small group, and one on one meetings.

Distance learning has allowed me to connect with my students in ways that I wasn’t able to before and I am so thankful for the opportunity to see where they live, meet their pets, and learn their favorite activities outside of the classroom.

I could not be more proud of my first grade class!

Morning Zoom meeting check ins to start our day on a fun and positive note by seeing our friends. I am a firm believer in focusing on the social emotional wellbeing of students as they navigate uncertain times.

One on one math practice to work with students that need additional support outside of group meetings.
